Intellection's QEMSCAN® is an advanced mineral analysis system based on research pioneered by the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). QEMSCAN® combines features found in other analytic instruments such as a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) or Electron Probe Micro Analyser (EPMA) into the next generation of analytic solution designed for unattended, high productivity analysis of minerals, rocks and materials.

QEMSCAN® uses advanced eBeam technology from Carl Zeiss SMT; combines this with state of the art Nitrogen-free Energy Dispersive Spectrometers (EDS); and then integrates these using the flexible iDiscover™ software suite to provide a comprehensive solution capable of identifying most ore- and rock-forming minerals in just milliseconds.

The QEMSCAN® system is unique in its ability to handle a wide range of sample types, from prepared samples set in epoxy or wax, through to rough sections of rocks and other materials. This means that QEMSCAN® can be used for analysing almost everything from core samples to soil and sand; from manufacturing products to dust.

The iDiscover™ software not only controls the operation of the eBeam hardware but also analyses the data generated to provide information about the chemical and mineral composition of the sample. Using Microsoft® .NET technology this advanced analytic software suite provides information and tools designed for use by geologists, mineralogists, metallurgists, chemical engineers and others in applications ranging from exploration, though production to remedial and environmental monitoring.
