World class training and demonstration facility, testament to maturing partnership with Struers
A purpose built Customer Centre, neighbouring Intellection’s head office in Milton, Brisbane was officially opened in early September by company CEO Calvin Treacy during Intellection’s two day user group meeting, iUG07. The annual event attracted over 100 guests, from all over the world, including existing and potential customers and stakeholders.
Addressing the guests, Treacy said, “As the name implies, this centre is yours and we would like you to make use of it.”
Intellection and Struers closely supervised the fit-out which began in June and includes 400 sq metres of space to create a dedicated training and demonstration facility for domestic and international customers. This expansion represents an investment of nearly $2 million in fit out and equipment to establish a world class facility that reflects Intellection’s commitment to supporting customers.
The customer centre offers extensive training in materialographic sample preparation encompassing Struers ‘The Professional Materialographer’ program, and Catalyst - Intellection’s solution to the training needs of the QEMSCAN® community.
Students develop a comprehensive body of knowledge; and the skills to employ that knowledge to find solutions to real-world problems. By combining a variety of learning environments and the flexible delivery of training materials, Intellection is able to fine-tune courses to reflect the needs of students.
“The centre is designed to be hands-on so participants can not only observe but actually take part in sample preparation from sample cutting, riffling, mounting, grinding and polishing to carbon coating and hardness testing as well as microscopic analysis,” said Esben Kjaer, general manager of Struers@Intellection.
Another unique feature of the program is that customers are encouraged to bring their own samples to prepare. This endorses the whole real-time laboratory experience and best illustrates how each piece of equipment operates.
Peta Hughes, Intellection operations manager said, “The centre, now also home to our Struers distribution and service personnel, is a dedicated facility with qualified staff in one central location enabling Intellection to make a unique training offering available. We expect between 120 and 150 people will undergo specialist training in the next twelve months.”
On October 15 the Intellection Customer Centre will host a special opening specifically for Struers@Intellection’s Australian and New Zealand materialographic customers.
